The Laurel an Hardy statue was sculpted by Graham Ibbeson (RCA) and presented to Ulverston Town Concil by the Sons of the Desert, the worldwide Laurel and Hardy appreciation society. Sat an Laurel was born in in Ulverston in 1890. The plaque is inscribed "The Boys brought laughter and comedy to the world."
