The old wooden pinisi, built from an old Dutch caravel type design, carry goods between the hundreds of Indonesian islands. They are built from hardwoods collected from the forests of Sulawsi Island and need constant maintenance. Large numbers of these colourful old boats can be seen in the Sunda Kalapa harbour in Jakarta, Indonesia
