The Peterloo Massacre. The massacre took place on August 16, 1819 at St Peter’s Field, Manchester, England, when the 15th Hussars, a cavalry regiment, charged with sabres drawn into an unarmed crowd who were demanding reform of parliamentary representation, killing 15 and wounding an estimated 500-plus.
