Women with yo-yos, 1932, (1933). 'The world went wild in the summer of 1932 over a game known as "Cheerioh Yo-Yo"...a grooved disc of wood was spun by string like a top and numbers of "figures" or movements were invented and practised by everyone irrespective of age, sex, or station. At this time women wore the trousers, not only figuratively, by literally; and not only surreptitiously but openly. Beach pyjamas paved the way for wide-ended breeches'. From "The Pageant of the Century". [Odhams Press Ltd, 1933]
