Common ragweed, Ambrosia artemisiifolia, plants against blue sky

The pollen from ragweed is highly allergenic. It is the primary cause of autumn hayfever seasonal allergies. A common misconception is that goldenrod causes hayfever, but it is insect pollinated so it does not. The pollen from ragweed stamens is carried on the wind.
