A Persian khanjar,ca. 1800. Double-edged Wootz Damascus blade with midrib on each side and Arabesque engravings at the forte. Massive walrus ivory grip carved with courtly figures and inscribed "Help cometh from Allah and victory is nigh". Wooden scabbard wound with rope and covered with shagreen leather. Chape with small bead of walrus ivory. Grip somewhat rubbed. Length 42 cm.
