Plants: The Manna Ash, aka Manna Tree or South European flowering ash (Fraxinus ornus) is a species of Fraxinus native to southern Europe, the Middle East and southwestern Asia. Frequently grown as an ornamental tree in Europe, the sugary extract from the sap obtained by making a cut in the bark was compared in late medieval times with the biblical manna, giving rise to the English name of the tree.
