It is best to sow the seed where they are intended to bloom as soon as the ground is warm, and should have a sunny location, and prefers light soil. Columbines should be planted wherever their presence will serve to lighten up a too stiff and formal planting, for no other plant has so airy a grace as the Columbine, is more generous of its blooms, or more effectively adapted for cut flowers.
