Though introduced some years ago, this beautiful species is yet but little known. We consider it one of the real gems among hardy plants, not only for the garden but its dainty, graceful sprays of flowers, elegantly arranged on stems 4 feet high, are invaluable for cutting; the flowers are of charming shade of violet-mauve, which is brightened by a bunch of lemon-yellow stamens and anthers.
