But the fhorteft method of curing thisdifeafe, is what the farriers call fcalding;and this will fucceed when the wound is foul,of a bad difpofition, and a large flux of mat-ter. The fcalding mixture, generally ufed,is made in the following manner: Take ofcorrofive fublimate, verdigreafe in fine pow-der, and Roman vitriol, of each twodrachms; of green vitriol, or copperas, halfan ounce; of oil of turpentine and trainoil, of each eight ounces j and of resSbifiedfpirits of wine, four ounces : mix the wholetogether in a bottle. This is the ftrongeft compofition of whatis termed the fcalding mixture : and veryoften a milder will be fuflicient, which maybe made by changing the corrofive fubli-mate for red precipitate, and the Roman forwhite vitriol. • The Qziail^f rr^/rlTTT.
