Spotted Lanternflies and Eggs

Two adult spotted lanternflies (Lycorma delicatula) and an egg mass under a picnic table in Reading, Pennsylvania, on August 30, 2018. The spotted lanternfly is native to China and was first detected in Pennsylvania in 2014. It has since spread to several nearby states. It has the potential to become a major agricultural pest, feeding on the sap of a wide range of fruit, ornamental, and woody trees. USDA is working to stop the spread of this invasive bug.
