Garbage bins and burning tires block the roads of Beirut after Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri resigned, as Lebanon’s crisis escalated on Thursday (July 15).The Prime Minister-designate, Saad Hariri, stepped down after failing to form a government over the past eight months. Lebanese Lira also took a nosedive as Hariri announced resignation, dropping from 19,500 LBP to 21,500 LBP per dollar (according to unofficial exchange rate apps). Until November 2019, the Lebanese Lira was pegged at 1,500 LBP per dollar.
