Heatmap using NASA's Goddard Earth Observing System (GOES) model showing daily high temperatures in USA on the 31st of July 2022. The darkest red areas show parts of the US where temperatures exceeded 40 degrees Celsius. In the middle of July, more than 140 million people were placed under heat warnings after pervasive and persistent heat established stagnant heat domes.
