Clay's Hibiscus, Red Kauai Rosemallow, Hibiscus clayi, Malvaceae. Hawaii. Clay´s Hibiscus, Clays Hibiscus. Endangered Species. An endangered tree that is endemic to dry forests in the mountains on the island of Kaua'i. Only one naturally occurring population of four individual plants remain intact. However, habitat protection efforts and propagation of plants in botanical gardens are slowly increasing the number of plants found in forest reserves and gardens.
