screening cancer oral

The patient is examined by a dental specialist who activates a light wand and shines it into the patient’s mouth to examine the oral tissue. The tissue will glow a blue/white colour. A blue liquid is applied to suspicious areas to visualise the extent of the lesion, and if cause for concern, the patient is referred to a specialist. The London Day Surgery Centre (LDSC) is the first in the capital to offer a pain free oral examination to screen for cancer lesions. The non-invasive procedure helps detect abnormalities that can be early indicators of the cancer. The oral lesion identification and marking system comprises of a chemiluminescent light source to identify any possible lesions and a blue dye to mark those lesions identified by technology.
