Booster sewage pumping station Amsterdam Booster Station South. Winner of the 2006 Dutch National Steel Award. Dusk.

Amsterdam is the first city in the world to make use of Booster pumping stations in the sewerage on such a large-scale. In this kind of pumping stations the sewage is not stopped firstly in a cellar, but directly propelled to the next pump. The construction of such a station is cheaper than a traditional pumping station. Moreover the energy consumption is lower and it releases no nasty smells. architect: GROUP A - Rotterdam (formerly: Group for Architecture & Aukett Nederland)
