Rock kestrel (Falco rupicolus) juvenile feeding on a bird. This kestrel is found in central to southern Africa, as far north as Angola, Zaire and Tanzania. Formerly thought to be a subspecies of the common kestrel, it is now thought to be a distinct species. It inhabits open rocky upland areas, where it catches small mammals and birds by diving from a height. Photographed in Bredasdorp, Western Cape, South Africa.
