These are somewhat less than values for circular cylinders with axis parallel to flow (Rouse, 1946, ) and may reflect some tendency toward "streamlining" caused by the general configuration of the corers in which the barrel projects ahead of the mass of the weights. The drag forces for Corers I and III are 62 v^ dynes and 105 v^ dynes respectively, and are an order of magnitude less than those of the larger class discussed by Kullenberg (1955, ).
