Freshly cut and sorted hazel sticks put to one side for use as bean poles and plant upports in the spring. Hazel does not keep well so need to be used summer after cutting. Hazel is coppiced - cut down close to ground - to create a 'stool' that regenerates producing straight, qick growing, poles. Depending at what size they are cut and the quality/straightness of the wood they can be used for anything from hurdle fencing to, bean poles, pea sticks, plant supports, fire wood & charcoal. Expensive to buy as they do not last more than a couple of years, so makes sense to grow your own.
