A portrait of Lord Chelmsford (Frederic Augustus Thesiger, 2nd Baron Chelmsford). He was a British Army officer during the Anglo-Zulu War. Under his command when an expeditionary force suffered a decisive defeat at the hands of a Zulu force at the Battle of Isandlwana in 1879.
