Archaeological reconstructions of Iron Age roundhouses seen through the NE entrance of a ditched and fenced enclosure at Butser Ancient Farm, UK.

Iron Age roundhouses seen through the NE entrance of a ditched and fenced enclosure at Butser Ancient Farm, Hampshire, UK. Woodsmoke is percolating through the thatch of the Moel y Gerddi house based on the excavation of a C4th/3rd BC site in Wales. It is 9m (3ft) in diameter built on a double ring of posts. The smaller huts, based upon ground plans excavated at the Glastonbury Lake Village, Somerset, are in various stages of repair revealing the construction methods: roofing poles (rafters) & purlins etc.
