Bloomingdale's Flagship Store, in Lexington Avenue was started in 1861 on New York's Lower East Side by Brothers Joseph and Lyman G. Bloomingdale. In 1886 the store moved to its current location, being re-designed with an 11 storey Art Deco addition in 1930. Occupying the entire city block between Lexington Avenue and East 59th Street, it sells clothing, footwear, bedding, furniture, jewellery, beauty and optical products, houseware and has a cafe. It is owned by Macy's Incorporated and has large plate glass display windows.
