Epiphyte: Cochliostema odoratissimum. In the wild, plants grow as epiphytes.


Epiphyte, Cochliostema odoratissimum is native to; Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama. It is a False Bromeliad, a type of tank-epiphyte, which collects water at the center of the plant in a pool formed by the leaf bases. The blue-violet flowers, with their fringed petals, are borne in large thryses, or branching flower heads.
