Seed pod of pink lady's slipper, Cypripedium acaule.

Seed pod of pink lady's slipper, Cypripedium acaule. These orchids are pollinated by bees, but they offer no nectar or pollen reward to the bees. As a result, bees quickly learn not to visit the flowers, and only about 5 percent of flowers are successfully pollinated in a given season. The orchids make up for rare pollination by producing seed pods that contain thousands of seeds.
