Snow gum (Eucalyptus pauciflora niphophila) trees after a forest fire. This hardy sub-species is found in regions of Victoria, Australia, between 1450-2000 metres above sea level. Here, the whole area is recovering from the devastating bush fires of 2002/3. The bleached stems are the skeletal remains of snow gum trees that were burned, but there is visible regeneration (green) from the bases of the apparently dead trees.
