Tenerife - wild fire damage to pine forests

On 15th July 2012 wild fires in the Canary Islands burned down about 2% of Tenerife's pine forests. Overall 6,500 hectares were affected by the fire but prompt reaction by the island government limited the damage significantly. Even so the fires caused an estimated economic loss of 1,800,000 euros. This shot was taken in October of the same year, exactly 3 months after the fire. It is expected that the Canary Pine's re-growth capability will soon restore the burnt forests to their original status.
