Mammoth Hot Springs is a series of hot springs on a hill of travertine in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. The travertine was created over thousands of years of calcium carbonate deposits coming from the hot springs travel through a fault line in limestone. The many colors of visible on the terraces are a result of algae growth in the warm pools which are roughly 170 degrees fahrenheit.
