A pronghorn buck (Antilocapra americana) stands near a fence in one of the last open spaces left by encroaching subdivisions.

Pronghorn herds will often remain on their territory until the last possible moment while buildings, subdivisions, roads and other urbanization are encroaching around them. This lone pronghorn buck represents the concept of a 'last holdout' against human interference in their lives.
