Caliente Cab Restaurant in Greenwich Village. 61 7th Avenue. (From 12:00 to 2:00 ) 7-20 $. In the early twentieth century, the neighborhood was the destination of innovative artists, writers and radical revolutionary intellectuals who gave the Village its bohemian character. Since the 30s, was promoted contemporary art galleries in the art of 8th Street and the vanguard of the show was given appointment in the theaters of Bleecker Street. In the '60s, the neighborhood hosted a large gay community around Christopher Street. This group starred in the June 28, 1969 the most famous riot between police and homosexuals at the Stonewall Inn bar was the beginning of the movement for the rights of gays and lesbians.
