An English walking stick with a memento-mori motif, dated 1899 Ivory handle carved in the shape of a skull, with two serpents wound around it, and supported by a long bone. The gilt collar displays fine vine work and is engraved with the name: "James Holmes 365 Anubly Road Hull" and the date "Nov. 20/99". The shaft is of beautifully figured snakewood with a horn tip (replacement?) Length 99 cm.
