Crocus cartwrightianus is growing on the rocks in the Aradena Gorge at the southwest coast of Crete. This crocus is the ancestor of the saffron crocus Der Cartwright-Krokus blüht in Felsspaltenin der Aradena-Schlucht an der Südwest-Küste von Kreta. Diese Art ist der Vorfahre des Safran-Krokuks.
