Oryctes boas, Rhinoceros beetle, Micro-CT scan

Computerised Tomography (CT) scan reconstruction of a Rhinoceros beetle, Oryctes boas. The Museum's Metris micro-CT system can scan very small low-density objects such as insects by producing X-rays as low as 40-50 kV. This type of reconstruction can be 'sliced open' to reveal the internal structures of specimens.
