Upper arm muscles. Artwork of the biceps brachii (top) and triceps brachii (bottom) muscles of the arm. The biceps is attached by tendons to the scapula (shoulder blade, right) and to the radius (forearm bone, left). When contracted, it can flex the arm at the elbow or shoulder. The triceps is attached to the scapula, the humerus (upper arm bone) and the ulna (forearm bone, left). Its acts as an antagonist to the biceps, exerting force in the opposite direction. When contracted, the triceps can extend the arm at the shoulder and elbow.
