On King's Day, formerly Queensday, the King's birthday everyone seems to be dressed up in orange in Amsterdam. The Canal Parade through the canals especially here on the Prinsengracht Canal is big fun and draws hundreds of boats and tens of thousands of onlookers. The crowd can at times come to a complete stand still. Pedestrian gridlock. Note: on close inspection some people can be seen holding cans of beer.
