Matthew Krempel, the commanding officer for Recruiting Station Portland, issues the oath of enlistment to poolees with Recruiting Sub-Statin Anchorage and Wasilla at the 2022 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in Anchorage, Alaska on March 5, 2022. The Marines had the opportunity to conduct a swear-in ceremony under the start banner and educate spectators about the opportunities the Marine Corps has to offer. The Iditarod is an annual race in Alaska that stretches over 900 miles, starting in Anchorage and ending in Nome.
