An Indian painted leather shield, Kotah, 2nd half of the 18th century, Domed shield of thick leather, the obverse richly decorated with flower ornaments painted with partly three-dimensional gold lacquer (minimal flaws). Four screw-mounted gilt copper shield bosses with green glass inserts (one missing). The reverse decorated with cloud motifs, the two carrying straps and the hand cushion replaced.
