Samuel Dyer (1804-1843) of the London Missionary Society was a pioneering British Protestant Christian missionary to China who worked among the Chinese in Malaysia. Samuel's fourth child (of five), Maria Jane Dyer, would later become the wife of Hudson Taylor, founder of China Inland Mission.
