Bromeliaceae vriesea imperialis (subspecies Rubra), Brazilian. This large terrestrial bromeliad was once classified as 'Vriesea Imperialis' but is now recognized as part of the genus Alcantarea. It can be found growing on rocky slopes in the Serra dos Órgãos in Rio de Janeiro
