Sophora microphylla "Sun King", Fabaceae. Sophora microphylla, commonly known as weeping kowhai and small-leaved kowhai, is a species of flowering tree native to New Zealand. It is the most widespread of the eight species of kowhai (the New Zealand Sophora). The cultivar Sun King 'Hilsop' has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. Its nectar is toxic to the honeybee. It can be cultivated in the UK and this specimen was found growing in the gardens adjacent to the houses of parliament in Westminster, UK.
