Arbor Low, Derbyshire, UK: an oval setting of recumbent limestone slabs within the ditch & bank of a Neolithic henge monument with entrances at the SE & NW. This view looks NW from the causeway of the SE entrance showing the SW arc of stones. There are c 50 stones, the broken remains of around 40 stones may have stood upright in shallow foundations. At the centre are the remains of a Cove, a setting of 7 stones probably originally forming a square enclosure. Arbor Low was a major ceremonial site, its alignments & geometry concerned with the sun & moon at the solstices. Some 50 leys (ley lines) are said to pass through it.
