A red porgy (Pagrus pagrus) also known as red or common seabream, a species of fish in the Sparidae family.


A Red sea bream, a fish of the family Sparidae, also know as Pagrus major. In Japan, Pagrus major is known as madai (真鯛, or "genuine tai") and is prized both for its flavor and for its traditional use as an auspicious food often served at New Year's and festive occasions such as weddings. In Korea, it is known as Ch'amdom (참돔). Pagrus major is also the most commonly eaten fish in Taiwan. Also a closely related fish known as Pandora in the eastern Mediterranean.
