Agnes Meyer Driscoll (1889-1971), known as Miss Aggie or Madame X, was a key American cryptanalyst during both World War I and World War II. She co-developed one of the Navy's cipher machines, the Communications Machine. This cipher machine became a standard enciphering device for the Navy for most of the 1920s. Driscoll led the attack on the Japanese M-1 cipher machine. In October 1940, she worked on breaking the German naval Enigma cipher.
