Edmund W. Stevens, on the Great Wall of China, 1957. Stevens was a foreign correspondent who reported for Life, Look, Time, The Times of London, and other magazines and newspapers. In 1950 he won the Pulitzer Prize for reportage on Russia in The Christian Science Monitor. In 1957 he travelled to China, in violation of a US State Department ban.
