Squirrel Point Lighthouse, located on the southwest tip of Arrowsic Island in the Kennebec River in Maine, was established in 1898.


Squirrel Point Lighthouse, located on the southwest tip of Arrowsic Island in the Kennebec River in Maine, was established in 1898. This lighthouse was part of a project to provide adequate navigation lights, aids, etc., on the Kennebec River which was a very important waterway at the time. Other lighthouses built at the same time included the Doubling Point Light, Perkins Island Light, the Kennebec River Range Lights and various fog horns and bells. The light remains an active aid to navigation.
