Rhododendron bush in flower

The Common Rhododendron is a dense shrub growing to 5m tall. It is evergreen and has been extensively cultivated in western Europe as an ornamental plant from the eighteenth century. In some areas it is now considered an invasive species because of its dense, smothering undergrowth.
