View SW of Midmar Kirk recumbent stone circle, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, UK, in a graveyard laid out in 1914. The 20-ton recumbent was propped with its top surface horizontal & the two flanking stones were shaped to fit. Three or four of the circle stones are missing and, unusually, the five remaining are not graded in height suggesting some have been wrongly re-erected. Nearly all signs of a central ring cairn used for cremations have been removed or covered. As at Sunhoney, the recumbent may be aligned to the minor southern moonset &/or the midwinter sunset. The church was built in 1797.
