The Kerala Backwaters comprise of a series of brackish lagoons,lakes and canals running parallel to the coast along the Arabian Sea,the "Malabar Coast".It runs almost half the length of the State of Kerala and is one of the most popular tourist spots in India. Tourists can spend days aboard a houseboat, converted from rice barges which are very comfortable ,and gently cruise the intertwining network of canals.
