Colorfully attired runner on display during the 2019 Shamrock Shuffle race in Chicago. The annual 8K Shamrock Shuffle event kicks off the running season in Chicago which draws over 20,000 participants each year which concludes the St. Patrick's Day festivities in the city. The race, typically run the Sunday following St. Patrick's Day, features both serious runners as well as those that have fun in participating in the event. The 2019 version of the race marked the event's 40th anniversary. It is the largest 8K event in the world.
