Poppies at sunset in an English field. "At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them."

The Flanders poppy has, since Armistice Day 1918, been the symbol of remembrance for the millions of young lives sacrificed on the Western Front in WW1, and in conflicts since then. The British Legion plans to distribute millions of poppy seeds across the UK to mark next year's commemoration of the beginning of the Great War. "At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them." Part of the Ode of Remembrance taken from Laurence Binyon's poem "For the Fallen", first published in The Times in September,1914.
