The Zebra longwing butterfly or Zebra heliconian, latin name Heliconius charithonia, is a species belonging to the family of the Nymphalidae. It has robustly striped black and white patterned wings that serve to scare off predators, a feature named aposematic. The species is indigenous all across South and Central America and up to the southern reaches of Texas and Florida.
